Sketchbook Journey: Cyborg Cat Portrait
This sketch started as an exploration of animals, anatomy, and expression — but as often happens, it evolved into something more human. This anthropomorphized cyborg cat became a way to blend emotion, structure, and technology into a single portrait that feels both familiar and otherworldly.
I focused on the eyes and face first, letting the expression guide the design. The mechanical elements grew naturally around the form, layered into the skull and framing the face without overpowering it. I like how the organic lines and geometric structures push against each other — soft versus rigid, instinct versus construction.
Working in blue sketch lines keeps everything loose and honest. Nothing here is meant to be perfect. These studies are about momentum — showing up, experimenting, and letting the work evolve without overthinking the outcome. Sometimes the sketch becomes a reflection of where I’m at mentally as much as visually.
As I continue forward — both as an artist and an entrepreneur — pieces like this remind me that progress isn’t always clean or predictable. You keep creating anyway. You keep moving forward anyway. No matter what life throws at you, the journey continues — one sketch at a time.
